Description
This wine tasting in Genoa with pesto and focaccia happens indoors, seated, in a registered historic bottega a few steps from Columbus House. The family-run BioTigullio5Terre team pours five wines from small Ligurian producers and tells the stories behind them.
The glasses start with two Vermentinos from the hills of Lunigiana, a fruity, aromatic one and a drier, more mineral one. After them the list gets more unusual: Vermentino Nero, a rarity grown around Fosdinovo, then a Cinque Terre white blend, and finally a fresh, smooth Ciliegiolo that comes from Tigullio's gulf. Every glass is matched with something local.
- Genovese basil pesto
- Crisp focaccia secca
- Artisanal cheeses from Val Graveglia
Along the way you hear about the wineries, how the wines are made and the culture of the region. The session lasts about ninety minutes, with a maximum of six guests, and is led in English or Italian. A small gift goes home with you. Tell the hosts about allergies beforehand; well-behaved small dogs on a lead are welcome.
