Description
This walking tour of Genoa takes you through the historic centre with a local guide, taking in the best-known sights as well as some lesser-known ones. The two hours start in a central piazza lined with cafes, shops and cultural landmarks.
The first stop is Christopher Columbus' House, followed by the Doge's Palace, once home to the Doges of Genoa and now a museum and a venue for cultural events. From there the route continues to Piazza San Giorgio, then Piazza Banchi, then to the Porta Soprana, a gate with towers that belongs to the city's 12th-century walls.
Next comes the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, a showpiece of Genoa's architecture. The walk finishes in Piazza Raffaele de Ferrari, which is Genoa's principal square and a good place to carry on exploring by yourself.
